Hello from talkSTEM!
At the beginning of this month we were honored to receive the Math Power Prize at the 12th Annual mEducation Alliance Symposium in Washington, DC. Not only that, but we were thrilled to be able to present on-stage alongside the other great groups recognized by the Math Power Prize sponsors and the mEducation Alliance – CAUSE Canada, The Prison Mathematics Project, onebillion & Imagine Worldwide.
Hearing about the great work that organizations around the world are doing to help further education for children and parents in STEM, reading, writing, emotional awareness and beyond was inspiring, and it was great to be able to connect to so many enthusiastic people all exciting to see what new innovations and progress collaboration in the future might allow to grow.
From AI-supported teaching tools to help parse mathematics in the classroom, to building spaces for combined learning and play, to tablets and lessons plans designed to work in areas without reliable electricity or classrooms, the sheer number of approaches brought to the space was staggering. It’s no wonder at all the symposium’s theme was “Wondrous learning is..”
People from across the globe were excited to showcase the joy of discovery, and cultivate curiosity in all places and all ages, and talkSTEM couldn’t be happier to be a part of that movement. Every child is a STEM child; every space is a STEM space.
As we transition into the harvest & holidays, that’s something we find ourselves incredibly thankful for, and we hope you do too. We’re certainly thankful to have you all as part of our growing talkSTEM community, and are excited to see that continue in the coming year! Our team continues to work towards realizing the vision of all children growing their STEM mindsets and seeing their worlds through the lens of STEM, and we are grateful for our new friends and potential collaborators whom we met at the Symposium.

Dr. Koshi Dhingra has dedicated her career to STEM education and is passionate about having every child live up to their potential. Seeing a lack of girls and other underrepresented youth in STEM programs, she founded talkSTEM in 2015 to address the imbalance. She has a doctorate in science education from Teachers College, Columbia University, has years of experience teaching in graduate and undergraduate programs, and has held leadership roles in universities. She advises and collaborates with a broad range of educational institutions globally. Dr. Dhingra began her career teaching science in middle and high school in New York. She lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband, three children, and two dogs.
