As you know talkSTEM and the Dallas Contemporary are hosting a community event (FREE) at the Dallas Contemporary this coming Friday, January 22, 2016. This is going to be a truly amazing event that is inspired by women contributions within STEAM.
Please take part in An Evening Honoring Women in STEAM at the Dallas Contemporary. This free event is hosted by Dallas Contemporary and talkSTEM. Justine Ludwig, Director of Exhibitions & Senior Curator at the Contemporary as well as Koshi Dhingra, Founder & Director of talkSTEM will be hosting this event, featuring an exhibition by Dr. Aura Katz, a London-based artist who explores the role of women’s labor in science in thought-provoking ways. We will also be honoring Wanda Gass with our 2016 Outstanding Leader in STEM Education award. Her efforts in helping girls and young women advance in STEM fields are truly remarkable. We are thrilled to be able to share this event in which we honor her achievements. We will also have special speakers Oswaldo Alvarenga, Executive Director of STEM at DISD (Dallas Independent School District), as well as Lynn McBee, CEO of Young Women’s Preparatory Network. Enjoy the opportunity to hear from these fascinating speakers who will create an evening to remember as we recognize women in all STEAM fields!

Dr. Koshi Dhingra has dedicated her career to STEM education and is passionate about having every child live up to their potential. Seeing a lack of girls and other underrepresented youth in STEM programs, she founded talkSTEM in 2015 to address the imbalance. She has a doctorate in science education from Teachers College, Columbia University, has years of experience teaching in graduate and undergraduate programs, and has held leadership roles in universities. She advises and collaborates with a broad range of educational institutions globally. Dr. Dhingra began her career teaching science in middle and high school in New York. She lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband, three children, and two dogs.
